YASKI Partnership with YHMI
Reaching Families, Congregations, and Servants of God
YASKI partnership with Yayasan Hati Melayani Indonesia (YHMI) offered us the opportunity to visit 5 villages in Southeast Nusa: Oeklani, Kalbano, Fotoun, Manufui, and Nufleu, where we were involved in various ministry outreach, such as family counseling, assistance for servants of God, and family restoration through spiritual revival services.
Personal Counseling Ministry
While there, we visited a man named Metu. He lives in a simple hut that is fetid, narrow, and dark. Metu has never stepped outside his hut because he believes it protects him from evil spirits. Metu's fear caused him to live in inappropriate ways. Metu also had terrible headaches for 3 months that medication could not cure. Not eating, not being exposed to sunshine and refusing to leave his hut just made Metu's condition even worse.
Pdm. Melasari from YASKI prayed and counseled Metu and then asked him to step outside his hut. After a very long deliberation, Metu finally went outside and enjoyed the sunshine. Pdm. Melasari asked Metu to clean himself up, enjoy a meal, and go back to living with his family again.
Business Assistance for Servant of God
In addition to personal counseling, YASKI also distributed small business assistance to servants of God in those 5 villages. Financial conditions in these villages are very poor. There is no electricity and people must walk 200-300 meters to get clean water. Most villagers are farmers or fishermen. Hot weather makes it even harder for them to make a living.
It was here that YASKI distributed a couple of piglets to the villages' representatives. Each village has 30-45 heads of families. Raising piglets is economically good because pigs are easier to breed. Hopefully, in two year those piglets will give birth so that other piglets can be distributed to other heads of families in those villages.
Family Restoration
Pdm. Melasari also served as a preacher in a spiritual revival service held by GMIT. Approximately 400 people - both adults and children - attended this service.
Many families were reconciled through this service. Husbands who drink and abuse their wives committed to be husbands who love their wives. Wives who have suffered from the hands of their husbands received encouragement.
Thank God for His grace that YASKI could assist the people of Southeast Nusa.
We are able to do our ministry because of the grace of God through you, our donors! Please pray and continue to support our ministry. God bless you!
