"Pure and undefiled religion
before God and the Father
is this:
to visit orphans and widows in their trouble,
and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."
James 1:27, NKJV
Pure Religion: Serving Widows
Sometimes we face difficulties when we try to feed widows and visit orphans. For this kind of ministry, Australian Rev. Greg Beech from Homes of Hope entrusted YASKI to reach out to people in need.
YASKI's Role
Widows need to be fed. Even though YASKI struggles with financial challenges, we still serve people who can not meet their own nutritional needs. With IDR 5,000 per day, a widow can get a good meal.
We started this ministry in the community of Kampung Sawah, Tanjung Priok. In order to help them become independent, we also train them. And churches like GKY Pluit and Asosiasi Pernikahan Indonesia (Indonesian Marriage Association) visit them and distribute daily supplies.
In our outreach to widows, we do not distribute money, but rather provide them things they need, as well as teach them how to cook for themselves on a daily basis.
And where do these funds come from that Rev. Greg uses to help the widows? Actually, it is from Indonesian donors, not Australians. Amazing!
A big thanks to all who donated to help these people in need.
